Transits 1

Transits to other planets in your natal chart

Always look at the aspects the natal position of the transiting planet already makes to the planet that is being transited, the house that the planet being transited rules, and the house the transiting planet is passing through.

For example, if transiting Saturn in Aquarius opposes your natal Sun in Leo and your natal Saturn is in Scorpio, then you’ll notice that you’re already used to dealing with a Sun square Saturn aspect in your natal chart. Thus, what you gain from becoming more intentional about self control (Sun opposite Saturn) informs your already present struggles around authority (natal Sun square Saturn).

If Leo rules your fourth house, then you’ll know that your new perspective about your need for control will come out in your relationship with your family, possibly meaning that you need to establish a new role for yourself in your family. By your natal chart, you might have a history of defining your oppression through your family. The new role you create for yourself will have to deal with the events that have already taken place.

Furthermore you’ll notice that, if transiting Saturn is in your tenth house, then these changes you go through might have to do with a career change that changes how your family sees you. Your shifting emotional foundation will influence what you feel you are capable of doing. You might change your understanding of how oppression has changed your family’s expectations of you and, when you do that, you might change your desires around the ways you want to prove yourself.

Finally, knowing that your natal Saturn is in your seventh house, all these changes will affect your anxieties over how well you measure up to peers and the ways you relate to society.

Transits to other transiting planets

Looking at how transiting planets affect you is looking at how the changes in the world affect you. When you look at only transits, without a natal chart to compare it to, then you’re looking at changes in the world.

When transiting Jupiter and transiting Saturn are in hard aspect to one another, you might notice social, political, or economic institutions go through a redefinition process. If you see that transiting Neptune has changed signs, you might notice the collapse of one economic bubble and the invisible build up of another one. Uranus changing signs might alert you to changes within social movements and how societies desire change.

Great Conjunctions, which are conjunctions between Jupiter and Saturn, happen every 18-20 years. Since the Renaissance, there have been astrologers who use great conjunctions as omens towards different goals. Conjunctions between Uranus and Neptune, or between Neptune and Pluto can also be noted.

When three planets are in conjunction, a triple conjunction or syzgyg, occurs. The word syzgyg is also used to describe any out of the original celestial phenomena. As an astrologer, you should assign your own understandings of planetary trends that have wider affects based on your work with the planets and planetary cycles.
