There’s three types of Leo Suns: Leos who have Mercury in Leo, Leos who have Mercury in Cancer, and Leos who have Mercury in Virgo. Furthermore, Leos with Leo Mercury have Mercuries that are either in the morning phase, the evening phase, or combust.

Sometimes, you hear people talking about how different July Leos are from August Leos. Not all July Leos have Cancer Mercury and not all August Leos have Virgo Mercury! However, because Mercury is never more than 28º from the Sun, it is more likely for a July Leo to be a Cancer Mercury and for an August Leo to be a Virgo Mercury.

Leo with Cancer Mercury: Community Leader

Leo with Cancer Mercury is the typical Leo who brings everyone who has ever felt lonely together under one project or one roof. They’re generous with how much they tell other people about themselves but they want other people to feel just as comfortable letting themselves shine. They’re space makers and they like to throw a good party but they don’t throw events just to show off. They have impeccable memories and they remember everyone’s name and face.

These are the people who greet you as soon as you come into a room. These are the approachable Leos—they’re the people with a million friends who always makes time for one more. They can sometimes feel run down because they don’t want to let anyone down. They treat their own time and energy like they’re endless resources.

Leos with Cancer Mercuries care a lot about loyalty. When you become part of their family, they see you as a thing that they must put in the time and energy to grow—almost as if you are their baby. They hate it when people take them for granted or betray them somehow because they see it as if someone were directly stealing their hearts away from them.

What Leo with Cancer Mercury excels at is making family where there was none before. They might call themselves the mom friend because they have a bottle of water or a bag of chips for everyone. They anticipate other people’s needs by thinking of what they might need and coming overprepared. They expect the same level of treatment back and they can often become disappointed when not everyone is as considerate and thoughtful as they are.

Leo with Leo Mercury: Reluctant space maker

With Leos with Leo Mercury, there’s three types: there’s Leos who have Mercury as morning star, Leos who have Mercury as evening star, and Leos who have Mercury combust.

Leos who have Mercury combust are tremendously creative. However, they sometimes feel frustrated because family expectations have assigned them certain values around whose voices deserve to get heard and whose voices do not get to be heard. They sometimes have been taught that, in order to get your voice heard, that you have to dominate others and take up space.

Often, people with Mercuries that are combust in Leo do not feel like they can rise up to the challenge and shrink away. In other situations where they are more comfortable, they have sometimes experienced the painful act of taking space from others because of a perceived scarcity around attention. Combust Leo Mercury people are heartbroken when they do this because they feel that they have imitated the emotion patterns of those who have hurt them.

People with Leo Mercuries that are not combust are fairly similar. However, when Mercury is in the morning star phase, Leos are a little more social while remaining an independent thinker. When Mercury is in the evening star phase, Leos are a little more distant from others but privately look to others for inspiration.

Leo with Virgo Mercury: Project Manager

These Leos are a bit more stoic. They’re the type of Leos who love hard when they love you but can cut you straight to the bone if you betray them. Leo with Virgo Mercury isn’t the warmhearted Leo that you think of when you think of Leos. They’re sharp—they’re always observing others and they don’t make their opinions known all of the time. Instead, they expect their own space to be respected because they respect yours.

Leos with Virgo Mercuries are Leos who practice the art of performing themselves in public spaces as if they are trained actors. This doesn’t mean that they are dishonest—in fact, all Leos hate any kind of dishonesty. Rather, Leos with Virgo Mercuries put on a show of proving that they’re larger than life because they sometimes doubt whether people care about them for who they really are. And Leos need to be accepted for who they really are.

These Leos put so much effort into their relationships that they sometimes treat love like it’s a second job. They put the labor into emotional labor. They go all out for anyone and everyone.

Unlike Leo with Cancer Mercury, Leo with Virgo Mercury tells you what they want explicitly and not implicitly. They don’t beat around the bush. In a workplace setting, Leo with Virgo Mercury excels because they are big dreamers who know how to move everyone forward together—as long as you do not doubt their authority.
