The Three Types Of Scorpio Sun

Aug. 30, 2021, 8:25 a.m.

There’s three types of Scorpio Suns: Scorpios who have Mercury in Libra, Scorpios who have Mercury in Sagittarius, and Scorpios who have Mercury in Scorpio. Furthermore, Scorpios with Scorpio Mercury have Mercuries that are either in the morning phase, the evening phase, or combust.

Sometimes, you hear people talking about how different October Scorpios are from November Scorpios. Not all October Scorpios have Libra Mercury and not all November Scorpios have Sagittarius Mercury! However, because Mercury is never more than 28º from the Sun, it is more likely for an October Scorpio to be a Libra Mercury and for a November Scorpio to be a Sagittarius Mercury.

Scorpio with Libra Mercury: Methodical

Scorpio with Libra Mercury cares about method. They don’t necessarily care about results or even about whether anything gets done at the end of the day. Scorpio with Libra Mercury cares whether integrity was involved in the pursuit of a goal rather than the goal in and of itself.

This is why Scorpio with Libra Mercury is finessed at the art of refusal. They say no if they cannot imagine the group of people asking them to do something to also hold them in integrity. It’s not that they don’t trust themselves. It’s that they understand that ethics is an agreement and not up to any one person.

Scorpio with Libra Mercury are activists not necessarily because they need to see a goal get reached but because they believe that there is value in coming together around a project. They don’t care so much about what the project is. They care about who is in the room and who is allowed to speak.

Scorpio with Scorpio Mercury: Considerate

There’s three subsets of Scorpios with Scorpio Mercury: there’s Scorpios who have Mercury as morning star, Scorpios who have Mercury as evening star, and Scorpios who have Mercury combust.

I have to say—there is something quiet about Scorpios with Scorpio Mercuries. But it’s not the same kind of quietness as a Taurus, who may say things very directly and fall silent because they don’t know what else they can say. It’s the quietness of a person who is measuring how much a space or a conversation can hold.

Scorpio with Scorpio Mercury has control over how other people perceive them. This is why they sometimes blend in and why, other times, they stand out like an orange jumpsuit in a crowd of suits. When they blend in and when they stand out is always a choice. Scorpio with Scorpio Mercury controls the impact that their words have on other people—they consider the other in all that they do.

Contracts haunt those who have Mercury combust in Scorpio. Contracts are social and they are also institutional. Contracts include things that you agreed to do for a friend and they also include things like marriage. Because Scorpio with Scorpio consider their impact always, they regard themselves as indebted to those who came before them and those who come after they. They understand themselves to belong completely to those who they love. This is why they fall so hard.

Scorpio with Sagittarius Mercury: Conversationalist

Scorpio with Sagittarius Mercury are waging war against both control and complete surrender. These are Scorpios with wacky ideas. They think about everything. They are either worried about whether or not other people will accept their ideas or they are completely unconcerned.

Scorpios with Sagittarius Mercuries are not diplomatic. When they rub people the wrong way, they know it and they don’t exactly care. What they do care about is making sure that their principles get across to the room. It’s impossible for them to not say what they believe. They can take care of disagreements later.

But this is a Mars ruled Sun. Scorpio with Sagittarius are not interested in elevating themselves intellectually. They’re not interested in talking down. They’re interested in strange things but only if knowledge can be cultivated horizontally. They’re interested in creating committed relationships through far out discussions. This is also what gives them their rigor as they care more about relationships than ideology.
