Leo and Capricorn—where to begin? First of all, I have known many Leo and Capricorn couples who are more on the chaotic side. My words here might be influenced a bit by what I have observed from those who are closest to me. You might be in a Leo Capricorn partnership that is working really well. There’s no such thing as incompatible or compatible. Just people choosing to make it work or not.

That said, I do have to say that I think there is some incongruence between Leo and Capricorn. Leo? Leo is the energy of the Sun. Does the Sun consult with the group before deciding when it will rise or set? No. Leo will do what it intends to do and you can either come along for the ride or sit yourself down. Where a Leo shines, there is life and energy. And you know what? Leo is used to getting their way because they bring the energy. People usually follow.

If Leo is not welcome, they will simply go elsewhere. They will not concede because Leo feels that conceding is fake. Leo refuses to be anyone except who they exactly are.

Who do you think usually gets the short end of the stick when Leo and Capricorn come together?

You might assume that it’s Capricorn because Capricorns like to serve and they consult other people while Leos like to shine. I’m going to argue against that a bit. Think about it. Capricorn likes to propose group plans but that group plan will dictate other people’s actions including their own. Leo? When Leo organizes an event, a date, or a group they’re not making other people do anything. A Leo does all of the work.

That’s why the Sun gets their way. Leos do all of the work. Why do you think that you can tell them what to do? Leo is the one who is feeding you. They’re the one who is cheering you on, the one who is giving gifts to you.

Capricorns negotiate because they’re trying to put you to work. Capricorn is a very group oriented sign. They want groups to work together and that means that they care a lot about what other people actually do. That’s why they will try and guide people, teaching and framing and organizing. Leos? Leos do it all on their own. You’re just invited to come along for the ride. Or not!

I think that one of a Leo’s least favorite things is being put to work by another person. Assigning tasks happens to be a Capricorn’s most favorite task.

But do you know why Capricorn is always trying to put people to work? Because Capricorn is trying to do something. They have a goal. They are serious about it.

Both Capricorn and Leo are signs that want to control the room. However, they actually want control for different reasons.

Capricorns are trying to control the outcome. They don’t really give a shit about what you do in your private time. They just want things to be better. They want people to be more accountable to each other and they want to make an impact together. That’s why Capricorns are trying to assign tasks and get people to do things all the time.

Leos aren’t always that goal oriented. Leo is a fixed sign. You have to remember that fixed signs are less directional than cardinal ones. The reason why Leo wants control over the room? Why do they smile and charm and use all of their friendliness to make the room into their space? Because Leos like to be comfortable.

This is usually the basis of Leo and Capricorn friction: Leos think that Capricorn is too focused on outcome rather than experience. Capricorn thinks that Leo lacks direction.

Capricorns save their own energy because they are goal oriented. Leo uses it to shine, giving it away without thought in every direction.

And both like to be in control. Both are honest about wanting control.

Both Capricorn and Leo have the reputation of being “bossy” whatever that means. I bring this up to address it. First of all, I do think that “bossy” is a misogynist word. Every single person needs some element of control over our own lives. Some of us are called bossy when we try to exercise that control. Not all of us are aware about our need to control. Leos and Capricorns? Both Leos and Capricorns are aware of how much control they want and they don’t really beat around the bush about it.

The best thing about Leos and Capricorns, I think, is that both of them will tell you when they don’t see you as a friend. Leos like to cultivate their own friend group. They will tell you quite clearly when you have advanced deeper into their inner circle because they will congratulate you on reaching a new level of intimacy in your relationship with them. Capricorns will identify differences and tell you out loud whether they think y’all can work together or not.

What does that mean? That means that both Leos and Capricorns are direct and explicit about how they feel the relationship is feeling. They have this in common. They are both highly intentional about their relationships and they understand this about each other.

What happens when a Leo and a Capricorn chooses each other despite the friction between the two signs? Those differences, which feel annoying when the people involved have not chosen one another, suddenly become fascinating.

Both Leo and Capricorn are people who will not back down after they have chosen you.

These two signs are incredibly different. If they recognize those differences and choose each other regardless, then they start to celebrate those differences. Leo starts to say that their Capricorn bestie is so chill and calm. Capricorn starts to talk about how Leo is just so excited about everything. Capricorns slow things down while Leo speeds things up but they start to accept that about each other and figure out how to go with it.

Leos are generous, Capricorn notices, in a way that a more goal oriented person isn’t meant to be. Capricorns are dedicated and Leo appreciates the way Capricorn slows down to attentively listen to other people.

This is kind of a wild combo, Leo and Capricorn. They’re just opposites in many ways. You can’t escape that. Technique wise, you could even say that Leo and Capricorn have the toughest time relating to one another. But you can’t escape the element of choice in astrology especially when it comes to relationships. If you really choose someone, then even the biggest points of friction are worth your patience.
