Honestly, I’m not even sure what to say here. There exists few relationships that are as easy as Sagittarius and Aquarius coming together.

I don’t know. The two signs are just goofy together. They both like to shoot the shit which is code for speculating about a lot of big concepts that neither knows too much about at length. They both like to gross each other out and be weird together. That’s, like, their favorite thing.

Sagittarius and Aquarius can get excited about calling each other. They can chat for hours at a time. They can do something really boring together like go on a long road trip but still have fun because they’re just making each other crack up the entire time.

Let’s look at why Sagittarius and Aquarius get along so well as well as why they act the way they do.

Sagittarius and Aquarius are both winter signs. You know what happens when the seasons get cold? You conserve more energy. You stop sharing your energy more. You retreat into yourself. I know that a lot of people think that Sagittarius and Aquarius are these flighty people who can’t stay committed but that’s not actually what is happening with them. Sagittarius and Aquarius can be extremely committed. They just can’t do that much energy all at once. This lack of energy works to their favor a lot of the time because it gives them pause and patience.

When people don’t have that much energy to give, they tend to ignore details. They feel emotionally overwhelmed so they wander a lot. They connect on intellectual grounds instead of emotionally present ways because intellectualizing feels easier than embodying. That’s Sagittarius and Aquarius. Big and broad. Wanderers. Intellectuals.

For people who have less emotional energy, being careful and cautious can feel like just too much effort. It’s too tedious. Your partner expects too much from you. You see them reaching out and you’re not scared or anything, just disinterested.

But both Sagittarius and Aquarius are winter signs. They both feel low in terms of emotional energy. That’s one of the reasons why they get along so well with each other.

That’s why, when you ask a Sagittarius about their Aquarius partner or vice versa, the most common thing that either of them will say approvingly of the other one is that they are “chill.” Chill doesn’t mean having no emotional expectations or needs. Chill implies coolness and it just means that you don’t expect emotional engagement right away. You give yourself time and space. You give the other person time and space as well.

You understand that the other person might want to engage but might feel extremely tired as soon as you try. You know how that is and you know that you need a lot of leeway to feel like you can engage. Sagittarius and Aquarius have that level of empathy for each other.

Both these people need a lot of space. Aquarius will actively ignore people they like because they’re bashful and shy and can’t handle it. Sagittarius too. They can do that to each other and understand what the other one is doing.

When they like each other? They ignore each other a bit but they know what that means. They push and jostle. They tell semi-prickly jokes that would piss a summer or spring sign off that they know that other winter signs don’t mind.

Everyone has emotional needs and everyone learns how to advocate for them in some way. For Sagittarius and Aquarius, they don’t like pushiness because that creates too much urgency and stress. Instead, they like what they call “goofiness.” Goofiness is really just the ability to come apart and then back together with kindness and playfulness.

That’s why Sagittarius and Aquarius are so hilarious when they’re together.

So, there’s differences between Sagittarius and Aquarius too. Sagittarius is Jupiter ruled and mutable fire. Aquarius is Saturnian and fixed air.

I like to think of Sagittarius as the person who will take the shirt off their own back and give it to you just because you are cold. These people have no self preservation skills. I like to think of Aquarius as the person who will charge you 2 cents for borrowing some lead for your mechanical pencil. These people are all self preservation.

Actually, Aquarius doesn’t love being in environments that are very transactional because they are constantly worried about getting the short end of the stick. What Aquarius is primarily concerned with is not ownership but responsibility. They enjoy being in environments where everything is already shared. Aquarius is good at sharing collective space but anxious about sharing things that they feel solely responsible for.

Sagittarius? They create collectivity very easily because, again, they don’t really hang onto anything. They literally see anything that is theirs as also yours. They also take in and then give away a lot of random shit.

For couples who share responsibilities and resources, I think that Sagittarius and Aquarius can work really well. There’s a bit of the whole opposites attract thing going on in regards to that one. Sagittarius is always trying to give everything away while Aquarius is showing them how to hang onto things. Aquarius is always trying to preserve every jar of jam while Sagittarius surprises them with more.

And, for everything Sagittarius gives Aquarius, Aquarius gives back. Remember—Aquarius is not stingy. They are fair.

This goes for emotional energy too. Both Sagittarius and Aquarius are often emotionally tired but Sagittarius is actually tired because they’re giving too much all at once all the time. Sagittarius will compliment you, listen to you, mentor you. They’ll spend all of their time with you for a week and then suddenly have to leave because they need their space.

Aquarius is different. They will just ignore you, especially if they like you. The more they like you, the more pissed off they feel when they are around you. So, there is something about Aquarius that prevents Sagittarius from over giving or over sharing. Even if Sagittarius does over give and then has to leave, Aquarius doesn’t really mind because they can also use some time apart.

Chill, goofy, and funny. That’s Sagittarius and Aquarius. Intellectual, imaginative, and heady. These people have extremely strong chemistry. They’re the type of people who will just suddenly call you up after months of not talking and talk chatting like you never stopped. Both of them have a similar need for sudden closeness and sudden distance. Both of them are emotionally laidback and they can read each other.
