Aquarius is most famous for being the person who says that they love people but rarely goes out of their way to see anyone. If you know an Aquarius, understand that they’re going around saying that you are their friend despite you never having seen them for several years. Typically, whenever you invite an Aquarius out, they will first express just the appropriate amount of excitement. Then, they will ask you to clarify when you expect to see them. “Oh that very day?” Spontaneous dinner date? Not very likely. Aquarius is a person who likes a plan. Aquarius prefers at least two weeks' notice, one week for deliberating and another for accepting that a social event is indeed happening and that they are indeed going.

However? Gemini is relentless. Gemini is quite possibly the only person who can make an Aquarius show up to an unplanned hang out.

When you try to tell a Gemini that, please, you’re just too tired to go out tonight, they are ready with a response. “I’m sorry but I know you,” they interrupt. “I know that you’re just going to feel so much better once you come outside and see people.” When you try to make work an excuse, they’ll tell you, “No, no, no. Every time you try to get anything done after dinner, you just waste time and procrastinate. If you come out now and get up early to work tomorrow morning, you’ll be so much more productive. I’ll even help you!”

You see, when a Gemini wants something, they will figure out some way of making you say what they want you to say. Aquarius happens to be the personality type who will begrudgingly do what they said they would no matter how tedious they feel about it.

Geminis, on the other hand, actually often seek out people who they think are super reliable. However, Gemini also can’t stand petty people. Unfortunately for Gemini, most pragmatic people need to be at least a tiny bit petty because pragmatic people are thinking about what actually is and details. Fortunately for Gemini, Aquarius is both highly pragmatic and a bit avoidant.

Aquarius is not truly pragmatic. They’re also predictably unpredictable. A Gemini is probably one of the only zodiac signs who feel assured by Aquarius’s style of socializing because Gemini has a gut hunch about when Aquarius needs to disappear for a bit and when they might be expected to come back. Once an Aquarius has made up their mind about something, they rarely change it. An Aquarius is the type to enjoy the same cup of coffee at the same hour of every day and to visit the same bookstore on the third week of every month. Their routine never changes. Gemini knows that Aquarius is resistant to change. However, they know just the right buttons to push. They’re also well aware that, if Aquarius truly did not want to come see them, that they would definitely just say no the way they do for pretty much everyone else. Gemini knows that the only reason why Aquarius allows Gemini to change their mind is because they make an exception for them.

This push and pull is just flirtation. These are air signs and air signs like to say the opposite of what they mean just to tease.

To Gemini, Aquarius is their definition of a reliable person. Gemini is not looking for some stick in the mud who has no flexibility of thought. They love Aquarius’s curiosity and genius and they particularly love the way that Aquarius feigns particularity just to goad Gemini on. Gemini is stressed by people who are just as mutable as they are themselves. Aquarius is the stable shoulder that one can lean on for an eternity without ever getting bored.
