Leo Midheaven

People who have midheaven in Leo are often very hard on themselves. Leo is the domain of the Sun and the sunshine exposes everything.

When you have your midheaven in Leo, you feel like people can see everything about you all the time. Edgar Allen Poe had Leo midheaven and he used a confessional style of writing to describe characters with different emotional fears and secrets. His stories are always about people getting found out about something, about hearts that cannot lie, and about inner obsessions that become so severe that they wreck a character’s carefully cultivated persona.

Contrary to popular belief, Leo midheaven people aren’t just trying to be famous or something. That’s not exactly what drives this midheaven.

Leo midheaven doesn’t always want to be discovered. It’s just that they feel like everyone is watching them, scrutinizing them, and seeing their inner core all the time. The light of the sun shines. It makes things clear. It exposes your secrets. Leo midheaven feels perceived by many all the time whether they are or not. Depending on their Sun sign, they might act very transparently or they might try to obfuscate their truth to deceive their watchers. Regardless, Leo midheaven always feels like someone is watching.

Why? Because the midheaven is not just your relationship to your external world but also how you were mothered.

Some Leo midheavens grew up with parents who liked to keep them in their line of sight. Their nurturers were always watching out. Watching someone, giving someone constant attention, can be an act of care but it can also disrupt someone’s sense of privacy. That’s why so many Leo midheavens are confessional types who seek to protect their own privacy but struggle with knowing how. Other Leo midheaven types learned to use performance as a way of trying to get their parent’s attention. When you are denied attention, you learn that you will compromise your own privacy in order to get the attention that you need to feel loved.

Did you know that performance, redirecting attention, is a method of protecting one’s own privacy?

Yes, there’s a few great actors who have Leo midheaven which, again, leads us to link Leo with fame. There’s Charlie Chaplin, Clint Eastwood. Robin Williams, and not actor but musician and performer Aretha Franklin. But acting isn’t really about being yourself. Acting is the art of directing attention and can be a way of hiding yourself.

Leo midheaven people make incredible actors and artists because they have learned how to command someone else’s attention from an early age. They know how to tell a terrific story. They have fantastic senses of humor and they even act out their dramas using their limbs and by making voices.

So, why are Leo midheavens so hard on themselves? Because they feel like people can see their emotions, their actions, and even read their thoughts. They feel watched. Someone who feels perceived and watched will have very high standards around their own behavior.

But, a lot of the time, you wouldn’t know that a Leo midheaven is so hard on themselves internally because they are so good at making the people around them happy. Making other people happy takes a lot of emotional effort. Because the people around a Leo midheaven receive joy from them, they often neglect to see Leo midheaven’s self scrutiny.

Robin Willians is actually a very shy person. When he talks about what got him started as an actor, he says that he had to learn how to make his mother laugh as a way of getting attention. Charlie Chaplin, too, grew up poor and neglected. He says that, “I was hardly aware of a crisis because we lived in a continual crisis; and, being a boy, I dismissed our troubles with gracious forgetfulness.”

Forgotten, dismissed, and unaware that you are living in a continual crisis because you have grown used to being forgotten. That’s the life experience that it took to develop America’s first celebrity.

Leo midheavens are very good at making other people laugh. They’re skilled at commanding attention and they’re almost always the people who other people like very much. Would it be cruel of me to say that what Leo midheaven really craves is a chance to feel dignified in one’s own privacy?

The midheaven in your chart doesn’t just represent how you were mothered or nurtured but also how you nurture a future in the course of your own life. Leo midheaven people are immensely loyal. They tend to become very attached to other people because they are tremendously gifted at giving other people loving attention. They ask you questions about yourself. They genuinely want to know things about you. They can make you feel adored and known.

These are very powerful people. Anyone who is able to give the people and the things that they care about consistent and enduring attention is very powerful because attention allows other people to grow. Leo midheaven will frequently find that the people who they love grow immensely on an emotional level just by spending time with them. Their friends and their lovers become more confident about their interests, more aware of their own biases, and also more excited about their lives.

That’s the kind of love and joy that a Leo midheaven is capable of giving. When someone pays attention to you, you become more interested in yourself. More aware. And you grow.

The Sun makes things grow and Leo midheaven is someone who nurtures using the light of the Sun.

I don’t mean to say that Leo midheavens are always these complimentary and sunny little creatures that go around spreading joy. Edgar Allen Poe’s reviews of other people’s writings were a mixture of scathing and exalting. He saw people for who they were. He called the transcendentalists “pretenders” and he extolled Nathanial Hawthorne for his originality. He called out conventionality where he saw it and the person who he was more merciless with was himself.

Careers that are suitable for Leo midheaven people: frontman for a band, sketch comedian, kindergarten teacher, sandwich guy, novelist or other writer, quarterback for a football team, and content creator.
