What happens when you invite a Virgo midheaven to your party?

First, they sit on the fence for a bit. Should I go or should I not go? They really want to say no but they’re too shy. Ahhhh! The prospect of socializing makes them spiral. They end up cancelling at the last moment because they got too anxious to decide.

They show up. This is the most elusive and hard to seek out placement of all time. You have no idea where Virgo midheaven is most of the time, whether they’re next door or halfway around the world, but as soon as you forget them, they pop out of nowhere. They call you randomly or they swing by after hearing about your gathering from a friend of a friend.

Virgo is the hermit. When you have Virgo midheaven, then your reputation is that of a hermit. Your friends have no idea where you are. No one has any way of predicting your movements. You seek out places of isolation for months at a time because you’re working on some crazy project that you need a bit of insanity to complete. You seem mysterious on the outside but, inside, you’re actually incredibly socially anxious.

I once met a guy who does all of his socializing, domestic duties, and employed work for half of the year. For the other half of the year, he’s in his studio. He doesn't interact with a single soul. He doesn’t read the news. He doesn’t cook and barely eats. He just paints.

If every Virgo midheaven could get away with this type of lifestyle, I have a feeling that they would. Unfortunately, not all of us can do this. Most of us take care of other people, a type of labor that we can’t clock out of for months at a time. Virgo midheaven does too and those repetitive daily tasks can make them feel very scatterbrained. Yes, I do have envy for this man who was able to clock out of his life’s responsibilities for half of the year. I think that Virgo midheavens do too.

Coming back to the point. Your midheaven describes how you were nurtured and how you nurture your own future. Virgo, the hermit, is the only zodiac sign that depresses both benefics. That’s why Virgo loves to refuse to do things. They don’t want to come to your party. They don’t want to work for anyone. But I’ve been around enough Virgo midheaven people to know that they struggle with refusal just as much as the rest of us. Saying no is incredibly difficult for most of the population because we live in a culture of compliance. Virgo midheaven yearns to say no. That’s probably why they are so often attracted to people who seem a little off beat, people who are outwardly grouchy or appear to be “wrong” for whatever reason.

Virgo midheaven people feel drawn to people who are incredibly different from themselves. That way, they have a clear idea of what they would like to say no to. That clarity feels good. Comforting and grounding.

They also love grouchy people, people who are rude just for the hell of it and refuse to get close to people too easily. It’s not that Virgo midheaven likes a challenge. It’s that they love their space but they often feel like they can’t claim it on their own. Grouchy people and people who push other people away makes Virgo midheavens feel relieved.

Most of the time, Virgo midheaven is just too nice. They try to be nice because they’re trying to cast a protective sheen over their own personalities but their niceness invites a lot of people in and then they have to try and say no all over again.

Did you know that management changed in the local queer bar? Virgo midheaven happens to know everything but they’re not sure how much they should share. That’s probably why they feel so anxious a lot of the time. They have so much information about everyone, they feel like their heads will explode.

I think that the Virgo midheaven’s weak spot, that every intellectual hermit’s weak spot, is that they can be incredibly vulnerable to conspiracy theories. People who are very skeptical and who think very hard about a great deal of things, those who put immense effort into trying to piece the puzzle of information together based on hearsay, tend to be more vulnerable to conspiracy theories.

The best place for Virgo midheaven is probably something related to academia. The more monk-like they can be, the better they feel. Those who are given to criticality, those who find themselves vulnerable to conspiracy theories, usually thrive in environments where they can put their overactive brains to good use. Of course, it would be irresponsible for me to recommend anyone to go into academia right now at a time when funding is being gutted and academics are becoming not just ideologically but also institutionally homeless.

But maybe all of that is okay for Virgo midheaven people. These people are not going to stop thinking about everything or doubting reality. They’re still going to be discussing, analyzing, and reading. They will still suddenly cut people off because they either fear being figured out or because they figured that person out. They will continue to return back to friendships because they just have to share their sudden epiphany with a trusted confidant.

Virgo midheaven are thinkers. They never had an ideological home in the first place because they’re walking around trying to make a new language out of bricks.
