The Libra Coworker

Dec. 17, 2025, 11:42 a.m.

So, here’s the thing. Your Libra coworker has another job. The work that you do with them is not the central focus on their life and will never be. The Libra coworker does not simply decide on one routine or one life path and move forward in a dogmatic fashion. Libra tends to move in two directions at once. Yes, your Libra coworker is constantly looking around to see what else is out there and weighing their choices every single day.

The Libra coworker’s other job might be paid work. They might freelance on the side or actually just work at another company full time. The Libra coworker’s other job might be self pursuit. They are going to school to study another language because they’re actually planning to move to another country. They are making a three hundred chapter comic or running a YouTube channel under a completely different personality. Your Libra coworker might have a completely different job because they have a completely unrelated degree. Libras come in many flavors.

My points is, when the Libra coworker shows up at the workplace you share with them, they’re not thinking about the work that you’re doing together. They are thinking about their other work. When they show up to their other job, that is when they are thinking about this job.

The Libra coworker only gets things done only at really weird hours. You never see them work. Later, you find out that they actually got all of it done. When did that happen? The Libra coworker works feverishly fast at the very times at night, on Sunday, whenever they’re not actually scheduled to be working on whatever it is that they’re doing. They are slow as molasses or doing something else entirely during the scheduled work hours.

Snacks matter to the Libra coworker. A lot. The Libra coworker likes to take frequent breaks. Taking breaks actually help them improve their work rhythm because they’re not the kind of person who likes to accumulate momentum over time. They’re the kind of person who likes to put a lot in at once and then step aside entirely. A lot of people have trouble focusing if there’s food or cupcakes in the room. The Libra coworker can’t focus if they don’t have a little pocky to chew on.

Yes, the decor matters. How many chairs are there? Who is sitting where?

Sterile walls? No breakroom or no food? No inside jokes with coworkers? Hell no. The Libra coworker is out. Like a finely tuned instrument, the Libra coworker becomes erratic if the environment isn’t perfectly right.

Most Libra coworkers wear gray to the job. I know one Libra who calls their all gray work outfits their “groutfits.” Gray outfits can be semi formal, semi casual. They allow Libra the ability to blend in no matter what everyone else might be wearing.

When it comes down to it, the true talent of the Libra coworker is not what they produce with their own hands on a timeline. The true talent of the Libra coworker is their ability to get you to work.

“I just love the way you organized the pencils,” the Libra coworker applauds you while eyeing the chaotic display of markers that also need to be organized at the store. “They look so neat and color coded now.” Are they going to do it? No way. They said that they love the way you do it. You barely notice. You’re too busy beaming with pride and you just might be thinking, “Hey, what if I also organized the markers? Would that earn me another compliment?”

“I think that you’re so good at answering customer service emails,” the Libra coworker cheers. “Some people are just naturally charming.” You blush. Who? You? Gosh! The next customer who calls to complain, you quickly make sure to pick up so that you can put your charms on full display. In the background, your Libra coworker can now relax, kicking their feet up and taking a snooze.

Of course, the Libra coworker isn’t just making you do shit. The Libra coworker possesses the remarkable talent of figuring out how to make any job easier. You have to keep in mind that this is a remarkable skill. A lot of people know how to make their jobs harder and to look busy but very few people know how to make their work, and other people’s work, actually easier.

Stocking paper piece by piece? The Libra coworker shows you up to perch them on the shelf before removing the plastic packaging and shoving them in all at once. Easier, right? Doing graphic design? The Libra coworker happens to know of a Photoshop hack that allows you to edit an entire batch at once. Just saved you a whole morning worth of time.

And what do you do with extra time? Work harder? No! The reason why Libra showed this hack to you at all is so that you can now hang out with them in the breakroom eating cookies and goofing around. The Libra coworker doesn’t give a shit about efficiency. They just want a work friend.

You have to remember that the Libra coworker thinks of their scheduled work hours as their social time. They will get stuff done later for this job, in hiding, when they are scheduled to work their “other job”.

Why does the Libra coworker work two jobs at once, you might ask? It’s not always about the money though it, for sure, often is. But Libra’s second “work” might not generate any income at all. Really, the primary reason why the Libra coworker likes to have two jobs or two primary commitments at all times is because they get way too stressed out when they only have one.

You see, when Libra only has one job then they feel like they need to make it perfect. They get overly invested, too focused, and they end up working even more than what it actually takes to just get it done. They never finish. The Libra coworker hates that feeling of being dependent on one type of work for satisfaction. They would much prefer to chase two goals at once, in case one doesn’t pay off, because chasing two goals at once makes them feel like more is possible.

How does the Libra coworker have enough time for two pursuits? Don’t worry about it. A combination of shortcuts, hacks, stressed out nights, fudging the deadline, and multitasking have been keeping your Libra coworker alive since high school. They hide their time stretched madness under a cool, calm demeanor. That’s just their personality. They feel much more burdened, for whatever reason, if they try to cut back on their number of options. A Libra stuck in one type of work starts to get the sinking feeling that their workplace persona has become their entire personality.
