Aquarius Midheaven

Aquarius midheaven is the people watcher. The observer. They sit in their corner and, without making themselves know, they watch what other people are doing.

Are they watching other people because they feel the need to base their own actions on that of other people? No, they are not. Are they watching other people because they're secretly judging them? Also, no. They're not doing that. Aquarius midheaven watches other people for one reason and one reason only: to observe the recurring behavioral patterns that make up a society.

They're not judging or being influenced. They're reading—not a book but people.

Aquarius midheaven has a slogan. "I want to see it for myself." If you try to tell them anything, they will always try to see it for themselves. Yes, they doubt. No matter how personally persuasive you are with them, no matter how pervasive your narrative of the events at hand are, Aquarius midheaven will always prefer to find their own reading of how things went down.

Aquarius is a fixed sign. Yes, it's air and it loves to converse with different kinds of people but that doesn't mean that it's influenced everyone they talk to. Aquarius midheaven likes to operate based on the certainty of direct observation. This midheaven knows what it knows and quite sure about that.

What do you call someone who can't be influenced? Who can't be persuaded or manipulated?

I think that Aquarius midheavens can feel very impressive because they assert power by refusing other people's opinions about who they are and how they should live their life. There's a certain coolness about them. They give off the vibe that they don't really care what people think.

When Aquarius midheaven makes a plan, they think about every step. These people are masters at pattern recognition.

Ho Chi Minh, who defeated a superpower with guerilla troops, was an Aquarius midheaven. Alan Turing, code cracker, was an Aquarius midheaven. Julian Assange and Edward Snowden, who both delivered information to the masses so that we, too, could see things for ourselves, were both Aquarius midheavens.

You get the sense that Aquarius midheaven is trying to crack the code on how humans work. That's why they spend so much time studying how people behave.

The future, for Aquarius midheaven, isn't a vibe or an idea or an image. They don't typically get a sense of possibility from just emotional hope because they think a little too much for that. The future, for Aquarius midheaven, is a system and is how that system can be provoked into malfunction with just a couple of little tweaks.

That's how Aquarius midheaven creates a future—by cracking the code on what is predictable and by tweaking it just slightly so that something else becomes possible.

This is why Aquarius midheaven likes to stay in one place and read people, not one person here and there which they can feel quite clueless about, but a whole society like a book. They're truly not judging you morally even when they stay quiet for great lengths of time and don't let you in on what they are thinking. They are making predictions. Only once they have made a prediction about what will happen with great certainty can they change that prediction through action.

They don't decide things super fast. Remember, they have to see it for themselves. This takes time.

One should remember—Aquarius midheaven is still a Saturn ruled midheaven. The midheaven, that point at the very top of your chart where the Sun culminates, describes the way you were nurtured to grow into this world and the way that you nurture your future into being. Saturn is a very slow planet. It's a melancholic planet, a cold one.

Aquarius midheaven is always trying to make up their own mind. They're aware of external influences and aware of what everyone else might be doing but they see all of that as a kind of loose mental map. They're not sure of how they are involved in what they observe all around them. They can be unsure of how to fully participate.

What looks like a really cool, badass, I-live-my-way attitude on the outside can actually feel like a strong sense of caution of the inside. Aquarius midheaven looks like the super smart and intellectual observer but they can feel a little more lonely on the inside that you'd think. They trust what they know and they're working themselves up to trusting what other people tell them.

Both Capricorn and Aquarius midheaven have high expectations for themselves. They have some expectations for you too. You have to be intellectually competent, not just by the book but independent and rebellious in your own way, for Aquarius midheaven to trust you.

Artists and writers with Aquarius midheaven, including Dante and Edgar Allan Poe and Samuel Beckett, tend to be more on the gloomy side. Their works offer us a peek into the perspective of an Aquarius mideaven. It is satirical and stripped down. All three writers are writing about their own version of hell.

Because Aquarius midheaven trusts their own mind first, because they use detachment to keep their observations precise, they can sometimes come to expect a kind of solitude of spirit. They can be friendly for sure and very kind but they might not share everything that they're thinking about because they just don't expect that everyone will get it.

This solitude of spirit of why a lot of Aquarius midheavens can be incredibly earnest interpersonally. They're awkward and sincere. They may be typically quiet but, if you ask them their true thoughts, they don't soften anything. They tell you exactly what they are thinking without thinking about delivery. Finally! Someone is interested! Aquarius midheaven, usually the quiet type, can talk your ear off if you ask them about their special interest.

This is why the cool intellectual, how Aquarius midheaven appears in more distant encounters, simply fades into a sincere and open personality once you get to know them. They're unrehearsed relationally. They have a lot of hidden warmth and excitement that they almost don't know how to handle because they have grown used to being the eccentric who no one knows how to talk to.

This is probably also why Aquarius midheavens are so brave. They're not thinking about social risk or looking like they said the wrong thing or whatever. They're too busy thinking about society as a system and finding ways to break out of its oppression. They will make shocking decisions very suddenly once they have observed their surroundings enough and figured out how to subvert what they have found. Their actions make sense. The decisions of an Aquarius midheaven only look strange when you're not used to something different being an option.

These people are not controlling. If they want to constantly see things for themselves, they want that for you too. You can disagree with everything that they think and they'll still talk to you because they're not afraid of being influenced. They're too mentally resistent. They have their own method of learning.

They will not tell a lie, not even at the risk of social death. Sometimes, they might simply be unaware that a discovery they made is so controversial that it will send people running over with pitchforks. Sometimes, they have assessed the risk and have decided that they don't mind. They will survive the backlash and every truth that disrupts a social rule deserves to be said.
